Thrive Academia (we, our, us) is a registered Partnership in Australia (ABN 29 939 875 642). Writing retreats and workshops with us are organised and sold subject to the following conditions:
Payment and confirmation of booking
Full payment of fees must be received at the time of booking to confirm your place on the writing retreat or workshop. Once we have received payment, you will emailed with a confirmation letter.
Collecting and managing personal information
Thrive Academia acknowledges that we may need to collect private and personal information via our website from time to time. This will usually be in relation to an event such as a writing retreat or workshop. Information collected may include your name, address, email, phone number, profession and or degree being completed. We understand the importance of protecting your privacy and rights in relation to your personal information. We respect your privacy, and your personal information will not be sold, shared or disclosed to any third party.
Section 4 of the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (NSW) defines personal information as:
‘… information or an opinion (including information or an opinion forming part of a database and whether or not recorded in a material form) about an individual whose identity is apparent or can reasonably be ascertained from the information or opinion.’
Information collected via the Thrive Academia website will be stored securely and will only be retained for the purposes for which it was collected, and in line with legal retention requirements. You have a right to access personal information or amend inaccurate information held about you. This can be done by contacting info@thriveacademia.com.au
Participant responsibility
We expect all participants to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect other participants while attending a writing retreat or workshop. We reserve the right to decline to accept or retain any member of a retreat or workshop should the person’s actions impede the retreat or workshop or the rights or welfare or enjoyment of other participants. No refunds will be given in such circumstances.
Limitation of Liability
We aim to provide every participant with a fun, educational and enjoyable experience during the retreat or workshop. We shall have no liability for any damages, losses, or additional expenses of whatever cause or nature, including those resulting directly or indirectly from acts of God, civil disruption, weather, theft or criminal activity of any kind over which we have no control, either while traveling to and from the event or at the event.
Intellectual Property Rights
All intellectual property rights to Thrive Academia website (including the software, design, text, data, icons, logos, sound recordings and graphics comprised in the Site) are owned by Thrive Academia. Workshop content and associated materials remain the intellectual property of Thrive Academia. They are intended to assist your writing and must not be shared with anyone outside the workshop or retreat.
Cancellation Policy
In the event that we have to cancel a retreat or workshop due to circumstances beyond our control, a full refund will be given. We may also reschedule the event, in which case we would give you the option to attend that event.
All cancellation requests for paid writing retreats and workshops must be made in writing and sent via email to info@thriveacademia.com.au
Cancellation fees for all short courses, retreats, and other advance bookings will be deducted on the following basis per person:
Outside 60 days from the start: 100% refund (minus Humanitix booking fees);
Between 31-59 days from the start: 50% refund (minus Humanitix booking fees);
Within 30 days of the start: no refund.
You may transfer your booking to another person at any point and avoid cancellation costs.
We may change this privacy policy from time to time, however we will notify you of any changes to our privacy policy as and when they are made. Any updated versions of this privacy policy will be posted on our website and will be effective from the date of posting.
