Academic writing can be hard and isolating. No person can instinctively write well, and academic writing is a skill that is learnt and develops over time. Our writing retreats provide an inspiring environment that allows dedicated time and space for learning, writing and thinking. We aim to create a sense of community that fosters connection, collaboration and peer to peer mentorship. Workshop participants will become part of an active ongoing community of practice to support each other to thrive.
Blue Mountains writing retreat
27–29 November 2022
Come and join us in the beautiful Blue Mountains for a fun, supportive, bespoke writing retreat. This retreat is designed for higher degree research students and early-mid career researchers and will focus on how to overcome writing blocks, how to write a lot, how to find the time and space to write and how to enjoy academic writing. This productive 2.5 day retreat will set you on track to achieve your academic writing goals, improve your confidence, expand your peer support network, and develop sustainable writing habits and skills.
What to expect during the retreat:
Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00pm:
Meet and greet afternoon tea and introductory writing activities
Sunday, 7:00pm:
Group networking dinner with peers
Monday and Tuesday, 9:00 to 5:00pm:
Writing workshop activities and structured writing time
Pre-work: You will need to come prepared with a piece of writing you want to progress as you will have dedicated time to work on it.
Registration fees
Full fee: $699 + booking fee
5 or more delegates: 10% off the registration fee. This discount is applied at the time of registration.
Registration fee includes afternoon tea and networking canapés on Sunday, plus morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea on Monday and Tuesday. Accomodation is not included in registration fee.
Accommodation
